When upgrading please make sure you:

Verify that the "Service Until" date of your license is after 20 June 2011!
Backup your DotNetNuke installation

Failure to take these precautions can leave your installation unusable. Please also consult the Bring2mind forums for the latest release notes and comments as well as other discussions.

Requirements

SQL 2005 or higher
DotNetNuke 4.9.2 or higher (recommended: 4.9.5 or 5.2.3 at this point of writing)

Upgrading

When upgrading a DMX version 3.x you need to run a script after this installation process completes. Run this script by navigating to "Run Scripts" under the Admin menu of DMX. Later versions of DMX (i.e. 4 and higher) do not require any other actions from you after completing this install.
