Greetings,

Our client is set up with Document Exchange 5.  We have the file structure and permissions set up.  They have about 900 files to upload to the different directories.

Is there a way to bulk upload the files to Document Exchange?  Can documents only be uploaded via the Document Exchange interface, or can I directly access the file structure on our web server?

Hi,

Please check out 'import'. It imports a directory structure as well. Find it under the folder menu when you're on a folder.

I have a question re this... In my case I have an external app that creates files for portal users every night. I would like to copy the files into the the user's respective Doc Exchange "folder" (in other words, set Doc Exch so that users have access to only their own files).

Can I do this by either copying the files to Doc Exch physical folder path or using WebDAV?

One related question: when user accounts are created, is it possible to automatically create a Doc Exchange "folder" (permissioned so that only the user + host has access)?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can't put files through UNC path into the DMX folder, no. That would not be picked up. You can use WebDAV however.

Regarding automatic user folders: this will be implemented in DMX 5.2 which should be out in a Month or so (target: between OpenForce EU and US).

Question regarding the import feature - I am getting an error on one particular file when importing the contents of a folder. Where can I get the complete error message so that I can correct the issue and get the file uploaded?

There isn't a more descriptive error then what you see. I'd be surprised if it was anything else then "I can't get access to the bytes". DMX doesn't do very much a file other than move the bytes to storage. And if it fails on the same file every time, it is highly likely the file itself is either corrupt or somehow locked for DMX (permissions or another type of lock).
