<p>When upgrading please make sure you:</p>

<li>Verify that the &quot;Service Until&quot; date of your license is <strong>after 8 December 2022</strong>!</li>
<li>Backup your DotNetNuke installation</li>

<p>Failure to take these precautions can leave your installation unusable.

<h2 id="requirements">Requirements</h2>

<li>DNN Platform 8.0.0 or higher</li>

<h2 id="upgrading">Upgrading</h2>
<p>As a precaution you should <strong>always</strong> back up your installation (files and database) before upgrading a module. This is because DNN does not have the capacity to roll back from any mishap. If something fails during install, make sure to copy any error message and details from the screen and the event log in DNN. Then roll back and contact us. A frequent source of failure is files being locked by the operating system while DNN is trying to overwrite them during installation. This can be avoided by making sure your disk permissions are correct and upgrading without the site being in use by others at the same time.</p>
