We are trying to extend your base program and have trouble adding your source code solution to DNN project. We keep getting "Project type is not supported by this installation" when adding the project / solution. Could you please provide steps the add project to DNN 4.5? Thanks.

Use Web Application Projects to do this kind of development. Read more about it on DNN and MS forums.
