Is there a trick to providing someone a link directly to a DMX-secured document that [requires a login] to access?

A DMX "file detail" link such as:

    /tabid/350/DMXModule/747/Command/Core_ViewDetails/Default.aspx?EntryId=85

works OK - at least it loads the page and tells the user they don't have access rights to the item

That same file also has 2 different download links, each of which throw an error such as "Server Error...The resource cannot be found" because (I guess) the ReturnUrl gets mangled when DNN switches to login mode.

Examples of these 2 URLs (that throw the error) are:

    /tabid/350/DMXModule/747/Command/Core_Download/Default.aspx?EntryId=85
    and
    /tabid/350/DMXModule/747/Command/Core_Download/Method/attachment/Default.aspx?EntryId=85

Is there a workaround for this?

This question might be similar to this existing topic http://www.bring2mind.net...w/topic/Default.aspx

Yes, it's similar to the thread you mention. I don't control this aspect. Remember that the individual modules do not authenticate a user, the core does. If it doesn't work then please nag the core team about this.

But the Filre Detail link at least causes the module to display a friendly message.

Is there a workaround? Can the link be specified in such a way that is doesn't get mangled in ReturnUrl?

That should help us. I'm happy the core team picked up on this. It's been a long time that users are struggling with redirects after login. Let's see if this all works. The test is that it should work for both regular and child portals.
