I've installed the latest DMX 4 trial version (downloaded today), and I'm using DNN 04.08.03

I ran the script to "Add DMX Search to DNN Search Results Page", but I get this error when search is initiated from the DNN search box.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Error loading bring2mind/dmx/search.ascx

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The file '/Intranet/DesktopModules/bring2mind/dmx/search.ascx' does not exist. ---> System.Web.HttpException: The file '/Intranet/DesktopModules/bring2mind/dmx/search.ascx' does not exist. at System.Web.UI.Util.CheckVirtualFileExists(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at Bring2mind.DNN.Modules.DMX.Dispatch.ᜀ(Object A_0, EventArgs A_1) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
------------------------------------------------------------------

This happens when logged in as host (the same error occurs when not logged on as host)

I've seen a couple of posts on here relating to this problem, but it does not seem to be resolved.

Can you help?

Regards

Andy.

Andy,
There are two issues that seem to cross in the posts: one is about the fields being searched, and the second is about the ascx not being found. Your error concerns the latter. I rechecked the 04.02.03 package and the file search.ascx is there and should have been copied to your installation (i.e. DesktopModules/Bring2mind/DMX). Can you confirm the existence of for instance '/Intranet/DesktopModules/bring2mind/dmx/download.aspx?

Hi Peter

Unfortunately this was installed on a customer's intranet, which I have no remote access to, but I can confirm there was definitely no search.aspx in the DMX folder (not sure whether there was a download.aspx).

I will try a trial install on one of our DNN sites next week, and see whether I get the same problem.

Thanks for your help.

Andy

Hi all,

I ran into the exact same problem in my DNN 4.8.2 install: DesktopModules/DMX/Search.ascx not found.

I ran a Windows search for this file on the DNN root, and got no results. I then checked the DMX4 Install package (the same version mentioned above), and the Search.ascx file is there in the Resources.zip folder.

I extracted the file manually, and everything works fine now.

I think it may be worthwhile to mention that I upgraded from DMX 3.

Aaaaaagh. I get it now. The clue is in the upgrade!! Thanks for that, Rad. In the DMX 3 to DMX 4 upgrade there is a file 04.00.00.txt which lists a bunch of files to delete. This is necessary to clean up the old installation. In the first versions of DMX 4 there was no search.ascx so it is on this list of files to remove. Later it was put back in place. For people already running DMX 4 this is no problem. But what happens on a DMX 3 to 4.2.x upgrade? The following: DNN FIRST installs all files and runs all scripts BEFORE going to the .txt files and deleting from that. This is a flaw in the way the installer works. I'll make some adjustments to the text files.

Hi Peter,

You have this thread linked to DX4-25. I have search.ascx in my DMX folder and the DNN integrated search does not work. So the upgrade process may have a problem, and be part of this bug, but it is definitely not the whole problem.

Hi Peter,

Please refer back to post where I first reported the problem:

Hi Peter,

I've been away for a while, but refering back to your post of 06/17/2008 11:57:13, glad I could help!

Does this mean that removing the line below from the 04.00.00.txt file will solve the problem?

(4th to last line) DesktopModules\Bring2mind\DMX\Search.ascx

Yes. Then, on a new install you should see Search.ascx again. It's in the zip but it gets accidentally removed during installation.
