I have DMX installed along with WebDAV and am trying to setup permissions so that users may add files through WebDAV.  I can't find a way to modify the permissions on items in DMX.  The options to add users/roles are grayed out (check boxes).  What do I need to do to allow these options to be set?

Thanks!

Hi,

It sounds like the portal didn't properly initialize. The so-called PermissionPermissions (i.e. who gets to edit what permission) is depenedent on the setting for AdministratorRole and RegisteredUsers role in DNN's portal table. If this is incorrect then it won't show up correctly. This is stored in DMX_PermissionPermissions. That table should hold 4 records tying the 4 default permissions to the aforementioned role IDs. Do you see that?

 Hello Peter,

Thank you for the reply.  I do see the table, and it does have four items in it, appears to be a role to permission  relationship.  How should I proceed?  Is there a script to run??  I am new to DNN, but have a good amount of ASP.NET experience.

 Peter,

Any updates on this?  The software isn't too useful without being able to add new content... Thanks

Additionally Permissions cannot be set on folders created as host within the host instance of DMX.  The check boxes are also disabled here.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. The role ids that the table refer to must be those of Administrators and Registered Users. These roles should also be referred to in the Portals table for your portal.

Now, someone logged in as admin should see the boxes made available. In the DMX UI click New item, select folder and go through to see the permissions screen. If the boxes are greyed out something else is happening. Contact me by email if so. That will be faster.

 Hello Peter,

Where may I find your email address??  The roles appear to be setup correctly.

Thank you,

Charles
