    Just a thought!

It would be nice to have the option to add and remove columns in the options just like attributes !!!

Perhaps for a future release !

Maybe. There are several options that are under review. The most likely is to use a loosely coupled ascx to display columns. That way resellers can make just about any kind of solution. I'm also looking at solutions involving XML. There are several parameters to consider (notably flexibility, ease-of-use, and performance).

I have the need for a Document Date that can be included in the Collection and Category views.  We have two types of documents, historical and active documents.

Users of Historical documents have no need for the date the document was added to DMX or the date of last update to the attributes.  For example, if I add a copy of the UN Security Council Resolution xxxx, this document will never change and the date that is important is the date that the resolution was passed (the Document Date).  Since the user adding the document cannot change either the Lastest Updated or Submitted dates this important information is not available until the reader opens the document. I've added a Custom Attribute field but cannot use that field in the Collection or Category view list (also cannot sort on that field).

The Active Documents are documents that are being developed and there the Lastest Updated and Submitted dates are the important dates.

I tired the Shortlist and WhatsNew Add Ons.  I also edited the .ascx file but that will only allow you to move existing fields around (without actually programming an update).

Any suggestions for a short term fix until DMX is enhanced with the capability to add remove custom columns?

    Thanks, Gary

    Gary,

Can you contact me directly about this? I might be able to work something out for you in a custom version. The thing is: there is not a flexible way of doing this without risking performance penalties. So I'd rather do this in controlled custom projects, then in the general release.
