Hello, I've got a clients site running dmx 03.04.03 . For some reason DNN is inaccesible and generating the following:
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

    Requested Url: /DNN/Default.aspx

I've given up trying to find the source of this problem so want to reinstall DNN, but dont want to damage the work that the client has put into its DMX.  What do I need to do to ensure I dont mess up their DMX files, folders permissions, etc.?

    Hi,

The content is in the portal dirs and in the database. The first is simple to preserve, the second more difficult. You'd need to make a clean install and then copy the data back into your new installation. Because some of the db content is wired to internal dnn data (namely users and roles), what you want to do is quite tricky. If you want this to succeed, you have to make sure the roles and users get mapped to the same Userids and RoleIds or the security for the documents will have been altered.
Having said that: all tables and sprocs for DMX are prefixed, so they are easy to isolate. Note that you'll probably have to activate again, but juts let me know if you need an activation for this.

    Good luck,
    Peter
