    Peter,

Not sure if you can help me on this one.  I am running latest dmx on 3.x dnn for our intranet.   I have a development machine that use using localhost and dmx functions fine (when use machine name does not).

Main server runs under http://cilr/dotnetnuke with alias of http://britnet - all works fine.

I have recently been requested to test a disaster recovery plan.  This involves creating copy of intranet that can be run on a virtual server.  The copy has been setup on server called citynet.   The dmx licence does not work on this server and therefore we cannot access documents.  Is there a way of transferring the licence or any other way around this.

Assistance is appreciated as my managers require this recovery plan to be implemented and tested asap.

    Regards

    Peter M.

Further to my post above.  I have been informed by my systems team that a copy will made by virtual server that can be run on any 'Server/PC' - how can we get around licencing issue when using virtual server to run dmx as a copy in the case of main server going down.

    Regards

    Peter,

    Peter,

Will this ask for reactivation if the virtual server copy is run on another machine.

I am also copying from the main server to the back up version - copying database and dnn directory - making the minor changes so it can run on another server/PC.

This is then copied by virtual server ready to be deployed in case of any failures on main intranet server.

Do I need to keep activation key I just requested for the virtual server copy and overwrite the original (I copy from main server).

    Regards
    Peter M.

It should run fine if you're using a recent version of DMX (03.04.x) when activating. It survives an xcopy.
