And if you try the same in the Word 'Open' dialog box? Does it show the same? What OS are you running this on, BTW?

OK, it's probably a difference in the webDAV client of Word and Windows. After opening a file through the Word client you should also see the webDAV folder being listed under your Network Places, right?

I turned off the webdav on iis. Now when I go to open a word document I see the link, but it wants authentication. I presume from the other forums that I give it a DNN user name password, but these do not seem to work and I always get a blank word document.

User name that I am trying  is host and password is host.  host/host .

Any ideas.

Hi Si,
Double check the IIS settings. You should have anonymous access on (as DNN handles authentication). The login should be the same as in DNN, yes. There are screenshots in the installation manual.

Another note: if you're logged in using IE (because it's Microsoft) you should be automatically logged in for Windows and Office.

I rebuild my machine from scratch, IIS webdav is disabled and anonymous is on. I can open a word document from DMX, but I do not see the path in network places. I am still not able to map a webdav drive. Any ideas ?

Si,
So you can open a Word doc driectly from the web interface? Then try this: start Word and 'Open Document' then type in a webdav path like 'http://myserver.com/dmxdav.axd/' and see if this opens up the webdav. That means the office client is fully working. I've seen that this also adds the address to the network places.

I can open a file if directly from word if I know the exact path including the file name.
From word 'http://myserver.com/dmxda.../filename.doc” will open my document, but

'http://myserver.com/dmxdav.axd/' gives me an error message.

Can you guys try this: Open IIS, go to Directory Security, then edit and uncheck 'Windows Authentication'? Did that help?

Si,
'http://myserver.com/dmxdav.axd/' will probably cause an error because for now I cannot handle directly mounting the 'root'. The problem is that for some reason the webdav component is not being 'hit' be the request. I'm not sure why IIS decides it should try to handle it itself, but until my code gets hit I can't do anything. Try 'http://myserver.com/dmxdav.axd/foobar'.

It is on a sub web

when I try

http://myserver.com/subweb/dmxdav.axd/foobar I get an error message. What is foobar ?
One more note, the system is running in Vmware as well.

O, the foobar was the name of a folder. I'll see if I can replicate this. Let me get it straight: you've got a subweb (i.e. http://myserver.com/mysubportal/Default.aspx) and the whole server is inside a VMWare virtual machine?

Just to further that last question: are you running this DMX instance in a child portal?
