Hi,

I'm testing Document Exchange 4.

1.

With Internet Explorer 6, I can work with WebDAV (right-click -> open in word)

I can't do the same with Firefox (right-click -> menu appears with Download Files, Edit attributes, etc., but no possibility to open in word).

2.

With Internet Explorer 6, I can open the folder with WebDAV

File>Open>http://mysite/dmxdav.axd + Open as a Web Folder           -> it's OK

but I can't do the same with Firefox.

Do you have a solution ?

Thanks

Hi Thierry,
The problem is ActiveX (a Microsoft technology that allows bits of code to be executed on the client's computer). For the browser to start Word, it relies on ActiveX. All this is controversial because starting an executable on the client PC is considered a security breach. As you might know IE is distributed with ActiveX support and the ActiveX component needed is already on your system. It is disabled by default due to the security implications.
Because (a) it is a Microsoft technology and (b) it is not 'good practice' to rely on ActiveX, FireFox is not distributed with support for it. You cannot run ActiveX without installing thirdparty software and that is not something I expect many people will have done. This is why there is no point in supporting this in the DMX interface.
