WE just upgraded DMX installation from DMX3 to DMX 4.06.  For the sites who are setup as child portal but have their own domain, "Open in Windows Explorer" works fine.  For the sites who have been set up as a child portal with a sub web like http://myportal.com/childpoortal, "Open in Windows Explorer" opens a blank window.  Is there a known issue with child portals and DMX 4?

Also for all of these portals clicking on "Open in Word" or "Open in Excel" does not open the document.  Can you please help?

Thanks

Hi Chhavi,
Yes. Child portals that have no proper domain may be a problem. I'm not sure if it will be possible to solve as webdav relies on path info and the child portal path sits in that path and throws off the module.

Hi Peter,

This is huge functionality loss if this does not work with child portals.  We were hoping to use DMX 4 and webDav capabilites on all our portals.  Is there a workaround that you can suggest?  I am sure there are many others who might have run into this issue.

Thanks,

Chhavi

I've been able to fix it in the lab. Need a bit more testing to see how it plays out.

Peter were you able to resolve this issue? When are you hoping to finish testing on this and release it?

Thanks,

Chhavi

I'm currently packing and testing. It appears to work. Have you already sent me an email to test it? If not, then please do and I'll send you a copy when it becomes available.

Peter,

Did you find a successful work-around to this problem?

Beta testers have not reported a 100% fixed result for this so it's still in the lab. My advice is still to use subdomains instead of child portals, i.e. http://mysub.domain.com instead of http://www.domain.com/mysub. WebDAV clients can be very picky about 'paths'. The child portal structure injects a non-existent path element. This creates a liability in the WebDAV system even if there is a good solution. So if you can, please use subdomains.
