We licensed version 4 a few monghts ago.  After initial setup, we finally got a chance to really get into the features of the module.

We have noticed that users can only upload files to Document Exchange 4 when logged in as a portal administrator.  I have seen references to extensibility where we could build a way to determine a user's ability to add, but we feel a document exchange module should already allow assigning "Add" permission to non-portal administrators.

I hope we just missed something obvious, but if not, do you ahve plans to build native capability to assign users / groups the ability to add files without being a portal admin?

Hi Rob,

Yes, the solution is quite simple. Create a folder that has the right permission set for you. The 'root' is a virtual folder that is only for admins. As you can place a DMX instance somewhere and make it start at a given place in the folder tree, you can best manage your DMX installation by beginning to set up the base folders for your site complete with the permissions you want on those folders. Then, if necessary, you create the various DMX instances that you want and set them to point to these folders. Of course you can opt to keep the DMX instances pointing to the root as well.
