I am curious, I started to see this issue the other day on my local machine. I had to switch from port 80 to port 8000 because my ISP is blocking port 80 incoming. Is there a way to make WebDav work over a port other then port 80? Is this even the culprit this issue? I'm running a newly installed DNN 4.08, and and DMX 4.02. Running Server 03 with Office 07 installed. This was working before I switched ports, but now I am prompted for username/password and the document will not load I just get a message after the password screen clears on the 3rd time that it's communicating with the server and then nothing. Any insight would be most helpful.

Thanks!

- topic split off from earlier one. the error reported here is being challenged for login on webdav access -

Hi Areck,

Granted using different port nrs is not extensively tested. The fact that you get an authentication challenge means that the authentication mechanism could not determine who you are. What would help me is if you could make a Fiddler session for me so I can see what is being sent from your browser.

This is what I got from the fiddler session when trying to open the doc.  Please note that today I was not getting a login prompt but a Connecting to server message.  However the document never did appear on the screen.

Hi Areck,
This is a response from IIS. Are you sure you set the verbs correctly in the application configuration? IIS doesn't seem to route the LOCK command to the DNN installation.

Peter,

Thanks for looking into this, yes I didn't have IIS configured correctly, had been getting my versions of IIS setup correctly and I guess a re-install whipped those settings. Now the login prompt has gone away which is good. However I'm still seeing the message box about Contacting the server for information with a scrolling progress bar below. Fiddler returns 2 sessions which are listed below. While this isn't an urgent issue if you feel inclined I'd be curious to know if it's WebDav or if it's something on my end. This is just for testing I was going to ask some of my co-workers in the filed to test out the new functionality. We can if necessary test on another server that allows Port 80. Again thanks for your help on this.

OK, this is getting better. Now it's down to an authorization issue. Make sure you run your tests as a user/admin, but not as host, just to be sure.

What OS/Office versions are you using to access, by the way?

Secondly: make sure you update to 4.2.1 when continuing this search.

Okay I've upgraded to 4.2.1, I'm currently running Windows 2003 R2 x64 Server with Office 07. Loging in a regular user fiddler gives the following:

Hi Arick,
Are the web.config lines in place? Check out the installation manual. There should be additions to httpmodules and httphanlders. One such addition is to DMXDAV authentication. If there a cookie should be added to the response that I can't see in the conversation above.
