Hi,

I'm having a problem with the option of "Open In Word" when you right click a file.  If I select this option nothing happens, but if I go to Windows Task Manager, the Winword.exe process is started.  If I double click the file then I can open it in Word fine.  I'm using version 04.02.03.

Any ideas why this is?

This is related to IE. IE needs to be allowed to spark off Word. This depends on an ActiveX that lives on your PC. If the site has an insufficient trust level on your IE then it won't be able to run this ActiveX. Check out the WebDAV documentation about trust level and IE.

Hi,

The 'Automation server can't create object' JS error is a sign that the browser is not allowed to start Word. Basically this means that the security has not been brought down enough for this to happen. Check the ability to start unsigned ActiveX components.

The second JS error you saw is new to me. I'll see where that one came from.

Did you ever determine where the second JS error was coming from? We're having the same issue. When we try and open a word doc from DMX, Word starts up but then a JS error is thrown and I'm not quite sure where that is coming from. When I try and open the http://servername/dmxdav.axd/ location in Word, the folder where the files were placed is showing as an empty folder.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

- in touch with Shelly through email -

Note that it is impossible for me to say at a distance what part of the WebDAV chain is not working or correctly configured. Usually it means taking a tool like Fiddler to figure out what is wrong.

And another note: if you miss anything from either the installation manual or the webdav manual (under help menu of DMX) then WebDAV is likely not to work. It really depends on every piece of the chain working.
