Looks like Peter is on a well deserved vacation right now, so hopefully someone in the community can shed some light!!!

When I right-click and Open in Word for a DMX4 file, MS Word pops up no problem, but nothing actually loads into the word document. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

My vacation was short but luckily very sunny (if you ever get a chance visit Ticino, the Italian part of Switzerland). Now back to DMX and ... WebDAV. It could be that there is an issue with WebDAV currently (I identified one myself) and the coming days I'll be working with the WebDAV guy to nail this. I'll take your comments along.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter,
It's always a bad idea to use the TAB key on a web page..but I do it all the time and double post.

Have you had any luck with the WebDAV issue?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,
I have made changes to the authentication mechanism for 04.03.01. Your error could be related to this or a host of other things. The fact the Word cannot load the document should be researched with something like Fiddler or Wireshark to see what's happening. I suggest you let me know if the next update (next week) does not resolve your issue.

Hi Peter,

I am having the same issue when trying to open a word document. When I try to open a Excel document, I see the webshare being created then a path error to the file?

Any ideas?

Hi Todd,

Resolving webdav issues is very hard from here. WebDAV creates a whole bunch of calls to the server and anyone can break and cause the chain to fail. I have the biggest chance of success if you send me a Fiddler file with the sessions in it. Then I can verify things like authentication etc. That will give clues where the communication process breaks down. Do you think this is possible?

Cheers,
Peter

Peter:

I am having the same issue using DMX 04.03.02. When I right-click and Open in Word in the DMX 4, Word opens and looks like it starts to download the file then it says "Could not open" then shows the file path. Then nothing happens the file never downloads. Any ideas?

Hi Tiphanie,
I suggest doing a Fiddler session to see what went wrong. There must be a call that was denied by the server. Send me the sessions if you want and I'll have a look.

When it first gets the file it locks it then writes out a 409 error in the log. Then gives us a 401.2 error when it tries to get the file. We can not download or Open files in Word or Excel. I am able to post and upload new files to the DMX.
I have followed all of your installation instructions regarding the WebDAV set up.

Hi Tiphanie,

Why don't you send me the Fiddler sessions by email, I'll have a look at them and let you know what I find.

PS Please include the following:
- DNN and DMX versions
- Server OS
- Client OS and Office version
