Hi Peter,

What syntax search terms are supported by DMX?

If you do a search for 'cheque hessay' it will produce a result as the document title has the words the correct way round.

However, if someone searches 'hessay cheque' it will not produce any results?

I have tried most of the lucence search syntax terms but they also do not work? The DMX module is using the lucence search.

Hi Gary,

The way it works in the main Ajax UI screen is that by default the search is 'tokenized'. That is: the string is broken into words and the search is search for any of the words. This can be tuned in advanced search (i.e. doing an 'exact search'). In expert mode you can write your own lucene queries, but this is not for the faint hearted. Note there is always a complexity regarding permissions. You can't just throw results at users they're not allowed to see. So in the Lucene engine the permissions are part of what is in the index.

The 'integrated search' works with an exact match. I just did some research because of your post and I think this should be changed to a tokenized search as well.

I guess you're referring to the integrated search, no?

Hi Peter,

My post was relating to using the standard DNN search results module with the DMX results module added in.

For some reason the integrated search is not working (Search within the DMX module), I'm not getting anything? I have tried a reindex of files??

Hi Gary,

OK, I think I get it. Questions of semantics here. I can see why you called integrated search as such as it's true that it's integrated with the main UI. In other threads you'll see the other search called 'integrated' as it means to integrate with DNN search.

About your issue: the search on the DNN search screen has an issue that will be resolved regarding tokenizing. You can follow it on the right of this screen in the bug tracker.

The search in the main screen should return results. For that issue I advise contacting me directly so we can see about how to debug this.

Hi Peter, I am very happy to say since 5.00.01 RC2 the search works much much better when integrated within the DNN search results.

I can now do partial word searches e.g. if I need to search for Alteration Fault Reporting.doc users can user the terms such as:  alt fault rep, alt fault report, report fault alteration, fault alt reporting.

Thank you Peter !!!!!!
