We recently purchased and installed DMX 5.00 and are running on DNN 4.09.00.  The problem I am having is I cannot get the search from the tools menu to work.  I have test documents with keywords and title but get no results when we search.  I also tried the DNN search box which also provides no result.  I have found the Filter List on: box does work however.

This is an update.  I needed to add a root folder and assign the proper user role permissions to the folder roles.  When I did that users with matching roles could add items.  I found that answer in UI forum here:

http://www.bring2mind.net...w/topic/Default.aspx

When that was done it also made my documents in those folders searchable from the tools/search function in DMX.  So...two problems were solved with one answer.  However, I would still like to search via the DNN searchbox.  Is that possible?

What I thought was working is no longer working.  When I use the DMX Tools/Search it is not picking up any of the Metadata I have entered that is associated with the document files I've uploaded.  As I mentioned before the DNN search box does not seem to give results either.  Any ideas on what I should do?  Thanks in advance for your reply.

Another update.  Adding a DMX module that uses the search template yields results when a search is instantiated from the DNN search box.  However, I still cannot get any results when I use the DMX Tools/Search function.  Stay tuned.

Hi Steve,

Sorry for your troubles. I believe you've stumbled on a bug. I have solved this one for DMX 05.00.01. That should be out any day now.

Hello Peter,

It's aways good to know and appreciate your reply.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it works or not works.  Will there be a posting on the release of the patch or should I be checking your site for the release periodically?  Also, will installing the 5.00.01 patch be failrly painless?

Thank you for the heads up.  I will put my project aside until the patch is done.

Steve

Peter,

The 5.00.01 update resolved my search issues.  Seems to be working fine now.  Thanks  for your timely response.

I am most confused.  I tried searching from the DNN search box and the searches that did work this earlier today are not working now.  The searches from the Tools/Search in DMX still work.  As mentioned earlier we are running DMX 5.00.01.  The only thing I've done since we tested earlier was add about 30 categories.  Other than that, nothing was changed.

Hello Peter,

I was not sure if you saw that I added to my post after you posted 5.00.01 but am still having some issues with one of the search methods.  The Tools/Search function is working but the search from DNN searchbox does not.  The DNN searchbox worked immediately after I installed 5.00.01 but then later in the day it did not.  I think the only thing that changed was we added about 30 categories.

Thanks.

Steve

Hi Steve,

If I can see the installation for myself it could be a good idea to send me a login by email and I can see for myself. That way it's easier to get on the 'same page'. Send emails to peter at bring2mind.net.
