Is there a way in which I can restrict Custom Attributes to be displayed only for documents in certain File Groups.

That is... I want custom attribute XXX to be displayed only when uploading Documents to File Group YYY .

Also where is the code that handles validation and regular expressions for Custom attributes. (Required field and Custom field in Custom Attribuites). Is it available if I have the source or is it in DMX Core.

Hi,

The handling of the regex is in a core class, yes. If you have any issues with it let me know.

About the attributes per folder: that is being built now. It works in the lab but it'll be another Month probably before it is released. The new attribute system will have inheritance as well built in.

It would be great if we could get that in a months time. Thank you.

Just a question.. I had read a post about filtering on Custom Attribute values. Is anything being done for that.

I wanted to know about the Regex handling because I was thinking about doing some small validations for date types ..like restricting it to a particular range ..and other small things like that. So I guess I cannot do that with the source.

No, you couldn't. Given the fact that the date control is a special control I doubt you could do it with code tweaking either though. Only the text type accepts regex. For the others it is ignored.

Not right now, no. It is more in the domain of search. For now we're looking at improving the flexibility of attributes and to make them more robust. This is mostly business layer stuff. UI still has to be worked out.

Hi Peter,

You had mentioned that the Attributes per folder with inheritance would be released soon. Do you have a date? Can we expect that anytime now. We were planning on doing customizations for that and if it will be released soon, we could avoid that.

Hi AG,

It is currently in testing so it is too early to set a date for release. There are more enhancements in the pipeline and I need to work out if they all get rolled into one release or if we go one step at a time. It depends on the outcome of testing I presume. I'd like to see a release in a couple of weeks time, but without the test results I'm not able to make that firm.

Hello Peter,

Do you have any idea when you will be releasing the code to Selectively display custom attributes? This is a critical requirement for our DMX 5 implementation. I have purchased the source code in hopes of accomplishing this though I would rather wait for your code update if possible. Can you give any indication when you plan to release this feature?

Thanks,

T W

Hi Travis, AG,

The testers have not had enough time yet to put this through it's paces. To give you an indication of where this is going: it is being tested for the migration of around 50 to 90 thousand documents from a Sharepoint installation to DNN/DMX. This was an important bit that was necessary. But I will not implement this in the main distribution until it has been proven to work in this project. So given the pace of things I'd say we're looking at late February for this. DMX 05.00.02 is being prepared for release right now and it does NOT yet include this enhancement. I wish I could make things go faster, but testing needs to run its course.

Just as a PS to that last post: if any of you wish to participate in the testing, please contact me by email.

Hello Peter,

I was wondering what the status of releasing this feature was?

Hi Travis,

It's still in testing. I've added a tracker item on the right of this thread so everyone can see.

Hi Travis,

The 'Attributes' per folder has been rolled out in v 05.01.00 as mentioned in the bugtracking summary at the right of this thread. Every folder can manage it's own set of attributes and these are inherited by default.
