We're getting around to migrating all of our docs into DMX, and I want to do it properly.  I also want to take advantage of WebDav (which I know nothing about), but I am reading up on.

Is it possible to load the documents into DMX and have them save on a network share?  I want the users to be able to access the docs thru the portal, and allow the approvers and doc people to be able to make changes to the docs on the portal share drive I have on our file server.  I have all of the files on the portal box, but I'd like to load them into dmx and then not have to store them on that box.

am I completely misunderstanding what DMX does?  I'm under the impression that I can load the docs into DMX, it saves them in the db, I set up a WebDav interface somehow to allow people to access it that way.

Is that correct?

Hi Matt,

Yes, that is correct. BUT the files are not physically in a file structure on your hard disk like you see it in DMX. They are hashed and hidden. Instead, WebDAV connects to DMX and requests documents and they are served to the client. The client can save them back again. You won't be able to see the document structure when you open Windows explorer on the server's hard disk, however. Only on your client PC using Web Folders.
