Hi,
We're using the DMX module (5.3.7) on a clients site where they have a mix of documents that can only be downloaded by members and some files are public.

Ive created a folder for Industrial updates and this has a members only permission on the entire directory - we are then displaying these using the DMX shortlist module. However 1 file needs to be downloadable by the public.

I have edited the permissions on this one file to be viewed by All users however this has not updated the file and when we click on the link to download this we are asked to login?

Not sure if there is a way to refresh permissions but we assumed that by changing the permissions on an individual file to all users this would over ride the folder permissions.

Can you please advise of what we need to do. I can send login details examples of this if you need.

Kind regards,

Calum McLeod

Hi Calum,

The user also needs permission to the module specified in the link. This could well point to the "default DMX" which you specify on the Main Options page. Set this to the publically visible DMX.

Hi Peter,
We've got it working by changing the main DMX module to be visible to all users.

Previously we had the main module hidden as we were displaying all files using the shortlist module where we had made a few tweaks to get this to show the file names to the general public but still required a login to download.

It appears that by not having the main module set to all users this effects permissions of files/folders to other role groups. All looks to be working well now.

Kind regards,

Calum
