Hi
when I make a link to a file stored on S3 and i click on it for download it, the browser link was redirected on S3 storage link.
In this way the transfer is only between the surfer and s3 not my webserver, but in this way the surfer can share the link to the file to other user? The file stored in S3 must be public?

Hi Fabio,

No. The link is temporary and signed. So the link expires after an hour.

It doesn't actually grant access to the file directly. When the user clicks download in DMX, DMX goes and asks for a "temporary key" for file XYZ from S3. That key is then sent to the client for the redirect.

Best,

Peter

Hi Peter,

This is a great feature!

Do you know if the link expiration is tied to initiating the download or completing it?

I can envision a worst-case-scenario where someone downloads an extremely large file on an extremely slow connection that takes more than an hour.

Thanks!

Hi Jed,

The link expires an hour after the user has clicked. But I yet have to hear from a case where Amazon has cut it off. I may add the time frame as a parameter so you could tweak it.
