Is there a way to totally remove all files stored in the DMX repository and entries in the corresponding DB tables so that I can refresh it from the Source Folders? I would like to keep the folder structures and sync folders structures intact but just refresh all of the contents. I'm working with 6.1.3

We recently moved to a new server and we are trying to clean up older files from the source and currently we have the sync folders set to 'Copy Both Ways' which is repopulating the source folder with old files that are stored in the repository. We will be setting it to 'Source Leading' so that this won't happen in the future but need a way to initially refresh.

I figured out that I could just remove the date folders from the repository that are stored in the portals DMX folder. I than went into the Admin tool and ran the script for removing missing files. I had to run this multiple times but finally I reached a point where the only items left in the DMX Entries table were collections and Sync Collections records.

Now that we have done this, I am having issues syncing. Please see my latest post about the sync issues. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the steps from above.

Isn't it easier to just delete the sync folder and recreate it? The sync folder keeps a record of when it was last synchronized. So you could get funny effects if you move servers and begin shifting stuff around.

Another thing you could try is to run the sync folder logic from the Run Scripts page.

Thanks Peter. I did what you suggested and removed all of the folders and recreated them. Each of our client regular folders have 3 sync folders beneath it. However, as I was re-adding them I noticed that once I got to the 18th synced folder (5 clients with 3 folders and then the 6th client with two sync folders) adding the last folder for the 6th client the sync script would hang. The other 17 folders had synced fine previously while I had run the sync script task manually. But whenever I tried to add the 18th folder it would hang. I even tried just adding another client with one more additional sync folder instead of the 3rd folder for the 6th client. It didn't matter, the task would hang. It's probably the time out issue I had mentioned earlier but I'm not sure why as the syncing with the previous 17 folders only takes a second.

Strange.

I can only guess. But the time it takes depends on (1) file size, (2) nr of folders/files, (3) bandwidth to the place where you're syncing from. I can't think of any other reason. Hope this helps.
