Silverlight is being sunset by MS. In a next version of DMX I will include a new upload provider. In the meantime there are several alternatives already included in DMX. And most browsers still support Silverlight. It appears that Chrome is the first browser to begin blocking Silverlight. Here is a link to a remedy:

Hi Drew,

I don't, sorry. In part this is due to the fact that it is still very much in flux. It seems that everything is in motion in the .net world and in DNN right now. Today I'd say the following about the future of DMX:

- Everything is moving to services. DMX will move there, too. To use services, the dependency of DMX needs to move to DNN 7.2 as before this version the services layer in DNN was flawed. Moving the dependency up means that all DMX users will need to upgrade to at least that version of DNN. This is a delicate issue.

- More and more we see client side JS frameworks being used. I've now tested the waters with several modules using various technologies and I have some preferences. The one thing I'm still looking for is the *best* UI framework to use. I have not yet found one that ticks all the boxes.

- Responsive. When I revise DMX it will become responsive.

What it comes down to is a rewrite. Over the past year or two I've sunk my teeth into various new technologies (most of those projects are open source by the way) to see which are the best for DMX. It is a daunting task to rewrite a piece of software like DMX.

Best,

Peter

Thank you for the response Peter. It is a relief to even hear you acknolwedging the current web dev trends. We too are integrating client side JS frameworks in our site as they improve the flexibility of our interfaces. Responsiveness is also a requirement for our site and one of the causes for us putting together several extra interfaces for DMX.

It looks as if Silverlight is being blocked by most browsers. Tried on Chrome, Firefox and Edge and I can't find a way for uploading files to DMX. Is there any other workaround?

Thank you,
Francisco

Francisco,
You would need to switch upload providers in DMX.

Thank you, Peter. I'm not embarrased enough to confess I didn't know that option ;-)
Solved!

Francisco

Not Peter, but you're welcome. If you don't find the option to change the upload in the control panel let me know. Just around to be helpful and try to build more community around doc exchange.
