Indexing services search issue 4473 1

Peter,
after many attempts, I'm still not able to have the search engine correctly set up.
My configuration relies on Indexing services. I correctly set up IS and I am able to query the catalog from the control panel.
Still, when I run the same search on the 'contents' using the DMX search form, I get no results. Actually I have the impression that it worked for some time and then the number of available results narrowed and now is 0 for any query (including queries on title, author, ecc...)

I've installed the latest DMX 4 trial version (downloaded today), and I'm using DNN 04.08.03
I ran the script to 'Add DMX Search to DNN Search Results Page', but I get this error when search is initiated from the DNN search box.

Searching PDF content - disappear over time 4517 5

Hi there,
The PDF content in our site seems to disappear over time. Once we have re-index the content, we can search for the PDF content. However, one day later, the same keyword will not return the PDF files.
Have anyone come across this issue
Additionally, we found that the PDF content indexing only works if we run the indexing on the whole application. It does not work if we index only the portal.

Hi Peter,
I first want to thank you for helping out with other issues.
I now have some questions about setting up searching in my enterprise environment:
Web Server (Machine A) : Win 2003 SP1, DNN 4.8.2, DMX 4, Lucene provider
DB Server (Machin B) : Win 2003 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Ent.
File Server (Machine C): Win 2003 SP1, DMX Repository is here.

We have a site with both Xepient Open Search and DMX installed. The Open Search is searching the contents of pdfs but the DMX search is finding nothing. A couple days ago I went into the web.config and changed to full trust but it's still not searching. Am I missing a step

Hi Peter,
I am working with a client that is requesting more creative ways to organize information accesss for&160;users to find what they need. This site has several different types of content pertaining to different products. e.g., videos, service manuals, etc.
With regard to documents stored in DMX, one thought is a clickable link (e.g., an http link in a text module) which would 'somehow' invoke a particular DMX instance on the same page to search for all documents with a particular word ...

DNN v04.08.02, DMX v04.02.01, MS Indexing Service
This is just a reminder that after adding DMX search to the DNN search results page, no results are displayed in DMX when a 'Site Search' is done. Note: Search directly from DMX does work properly.
Also, when a DNN site search is executed,&160;is the intent to&160;find just items with the word(s) in a title, or does it do a content search, or both

We have defined any&160;Custom-Attributes for our Documents,&160;when we search in DMX the most Custom-Attributes works fine but&160;one single Custom-Attribute was not work.
Our Error-Source-Localizing-Steps:
We clear the Lucene Index- and Tempdir&160;from filestructure
We made a reindexing
Result is No Result
We Test the Search with Luke and see Lucene returns the right Documents.

Hi Peter,
we have now upgraded to Version 04.02.01 and use this on DNN 4.8.1.
We have define in the Module-Settings the 'Startup Screen' to Search.ascx and and click on Update
now we see no Collection and no Search.
We have also defined in a seond Step to set the 'Startup Screen' the second Option bring2mind/dms/search.ascx
and click here also on update. Here we have the same Effect but when we go in the Module-Settings the 'Startup Sreen'
is now set to Search.ascx and not more to bring2mi...

I'm trying to set up DMX 4 on a hosting provider and I need to use Indexing Service for searching. The search docs say that this only works when the Indexing Service and the SQL Server and the web server are all on the same computer This is very limiting and may well rule out the use of DMX - are there any plans to add an Indexing Service search provider that can directly query the local Indexing Service without the need for the linked server on SQL Server

I am unable to select the search.ascx control to setup a DMX module on the DNN search page. It is not avaliable in the drop down box and I cannot manually type (the box is not active).
Let me know if I am missing something.

I am using lucene to search DMX 4.01 and it is working. However, it only searches within the folder that is selected and will not search within any subdirectories. For example if I have a folder in subdirectory 1 of main folder 1 the search will not return any files or folders in subdirectory 1 (unless subdirectory 1 is selected). Is there something I'm doing wrong

Hi,
I've configured DMX using Indexing Service to search filecontent.
The catalog is created successful, I can query the catalog using the Indexing Service Query Form.
The catalog is also successful linked in sql2005. In the DMX Search Setting I see the catalog is successful attached.
But when I try a search in DMX, nothing appears in the resultpane.
What can cause this

Hi,
I've read previous forums and some issues are related to mine but the questions are still open or the answer does not resolve my problem.
I have one Folder with 3 documents in it (a 'doc', 'pdf' and 'txt).
When I reindex the portal, everything looks ok, the folder and my documents are indexed.
But when I try a search, he only find the pdf.
Using Luke to see what is indexed, I see:
1. the attributes of my folder
2. the attributes of my pdf
* The other 2 files are not indexed.
