I've been able to subscribe to documents and they appear in my subscribed content folder, but I can't find a way to unsubscribe from that file... Any thoughts?

Thanks

Click on your "Subscribed Content" list in the left panel, then right-click the item/s you want to unsubscribe from (in the main panel) by selecting "Unsubscribe" from the pop-up menu.

What do I do if I don't have an "Unsubscribe" in the menu?

Hi Nathan,

The unsubscribe should be available if you're logged in correctly. Did you use the right click (or Item menu)? Do you see the subscribe button maybe? In this case it looks like it's the wrong item you're clicking. Have you tried it in their original place in DMX or only under the recycle bin?

Hi Peter,

I'm logged in as a user with full host permissions. When I go to the "Subscribed Content" area under the "Non-approved items" on the left had side, I see a list of all the items I subscribed to. Then if I use the right-click menu or the "Item" menu from the tool bar, all I get is: Download File, Mail Me, Edit Attributes ..., New Version ..., Cut, Copy, Delete, Hard Delete, Lock, Subscribe, Show Direct Link, and Navigate. I get the same results if I go directly to the original place of item that I'm subscribed to. I think this might have something to do with my permission level... I just had a standard user try it and it work... My user account is a normal one that I promoted to host level in the database. Why would being a host user keep this from working?

The other odd thing that I noticed is that the standard user account wasn't able to use the right click menu. they were only able to use the "Item" menu.

Thanks,

Nathan Rover

Well, now it's looking like all the users who were in the system before I added the DMX module can't unsubscribe, but any user that has been added after setting up the DMX module can do it. I deleted some of the users who weren't working and re-added them, and now they work. Very odd.

Thanks,

Alright, after further testing, it seems to only be doing it when I promote a user to be a host it doesn't matter when they were added. So, all I'm doing is going to the user table in the DNN database and switching the IsSuperUser flag to true so that that user is will be a host on the portal... When I do that, they can no longer unsubscribe. The funny thing is, when I change it back to false, they still can't unsubscribe. Why would IsSuperUser have anything to do with this?

Thanks,

Nathan Rover

Hi Nathan,

Superusers/hosts have no role in a portal. This means some functionality is not available for them. In many places in DMX the host user will impersonate the default portal Administrator, but for 'personal' stuff we just have to exclude the host user.
