When showing a list of files/folders in DMX, is there a way to change the default list to more than 10 items? or create some kind of a "view all" option to show all of the items in a folder instead of having to page through the list of folder items?

Is there a way to just show all of them in a giant list if need be for quicker lookup.

Thanks!

Hi Shelly,

In the default view it is an endless grid so that doesn't page. I guess you mean in templated view. The template actually contains a placeholder for the list with a specification of how many items to display. Check this out in the template help file.

Thanks Peter.

Does the bring2mind templateview.ascx file need to be used instead of the default templateview.ascx as the control to load for the module? Does this need to be done for each place the module is used in the site? or can it be done globally?

bring2mind/dmx/templateview.ascx

Is there a way to switch back and forth between viewing all the entries in a list or just 10 items in a list using the modified templates?

Do you have any sample templates showing how this is done?

Hi Shelly,

Every module instance of DMX has its own setting for the UI to use. The default UI is the Ajax UI (ViewCollection.ascx). There is only one TemplateView.ascx in the distribution. The template can be edited by hand. You can do in a template what you can do in HTML with so-called 'token replace'. So the possibilities are not limitless, but it is pretty easy to adjust templates.
Note: You can't switch UIs in a module, but within a template, you can still so a lot of stuff.

I guess what I'm really asking about this issue is that I need to know if creating a "view all entries" option in DMX would require further coding or if a simple template change will work.

Thanks!

Hi Shelly,

You can set the nr of items to be displayed to 0 to force it to show all items in TemplateView. Have you tried that yet?

If you want to create an option to show all entries "on the fly" (ie flipping back and forth between viewing say 10 and viewing all) that would mean some programming, yes.

Thanks Peter. I figured flipping back and forth would require some programming but just needed to verify.

My boss wants to know if programming is required for a "View All" option in addition to the paging currently in place (all view options on the same screen), would this be something that will be built into an updated version of DMX? Would it be possible for you to develop a custom piece for us to provide this feature to our client and if so, how much would it cost and how much time would it take?

Thanks!

Shelly

Hi Shelly,

It would need to be programmed in and I'm not sure if it would stay on a fork or not. Please contact me by email for customization requests.
