    Hi

I have a colleague who is placing hyperlinks to documents in Microsoft Word 2003 using the relevant hyperlink for a document in DMX e.g. http://intranet/Nationald...ult.aspx?EntryId=440

The problem is that when a link is clicked on, Word tries to be clever and just open the document in its relevant application and the file name is lost. My colleague would like the file to just download instead of open.

Any ideas on how this can be achieved?

    1) Go to the page with the DMX Module
    2) Mouse over the module options
    3) Choose "Options"
    4) Go to the "Service" tab
    5) Click "File Types"
    6) Find the file type(s) in question.
    7) Click the "Edit" link for the file type(s)
    8) If the "Default Action" is "View", change it to "Download"

Let me know if that helps.

    Brian

I'm afraid the problem lies with Word because the server really responds with a 'download'. If Word is trying to be clever, it examines the file name and concludes 'hey I can read this stuff' and opens it inside itself. It should be similar to having a link like http://intranet/Portals/0/someworddoc.doc.
BTW Instead of setting the download method on items you can override this setting in the url by including 'Method/attachment/' in the url (or '&method=attachment' if not using friendly urls). You'll see this in action under the save icons on a file list in DMX.
