Hi Peter,

I have been testing WebDAV to add and delete files.

First, I have found that using Windows Explorer (My Network Places WebDAV mapping) and copying a file to DMX, the file date and time changes to the time it was copied. However, if I use WebDrive and map a drive letter to the DMX WebDAV url then copied files retain their original date.

Next, when I delete a file, either using Windows Explorer or WebDrive the file gets deleted in DMX but it is not a hard delete.

Is the soft/hard delte attribute managed by DMX or WebDAV? If it is a function of DMX then we need a way to choose whether WebDAV deletes are hard or soft. Ideally I would like to be able to determine whether the deletes are hard/soft by user.

Or, by module instance. If this not possible then perhaps the approval permissions can determine hard/soft delete. For example. if the user has approval permissions the delete is hard otherwise it is soft.

Since we will be synchronizing data with DMX using WebDAV it is necessary that the user accessing WebDAV to sync automatically does a hard delete.

Hi Lance,

I'm not sure about the webdrive scenario. I'd have to replicate. To keep things simple MS uses various WebDAV clients in its software that don't all behave the same. We do our best to adjust to all clients, but time will have to iron out differences.

DMX handles all file operations including delete. So this could be a setting as you suggested. I'll make a note of this.
