Is it not possible to edit documents directly on the Server in DMX3?  Earlier today I opened a document and was prompted whether I wanted to open it read-only or not.  I chose not to open it read-only and was able to actually change the doc and save it.  When I re-open it, or any other document, I'm no longer prompted to open read-only or not. Every document I open is opened as Read-only, and thus I can't remove the edit I made earlier.  And I did not find any documentation at all on editing documents, or using the Lock and Unlock icons on the menu bar.

Can someone please explain how to edit documents directly on the server, if possible?

    Hi Mike,

No you cannot edit documents directly on the server. The documents as they are stored on the server are managed by DMX. If changed this can lead to unpredictable results as you may corrupt the data integrity. Use DMX 4 for direct editing (through WebDAV). DMX 3 is purely a web app so it assumes you do not have direct access to the files on the disk of the server.

The 'lock' is meant to flag to others that you have downloaded a document and are working on it. It will prevent others from uploading a new version while you're working on it.
