Hi Peter,

I guess I am encountered the same problem, where my DMX file, apps and index service is in one machine and sql server in another machine. I realized that you have been working on this problem. IS that any solution distributed already at this time? I am really looking forward to make this thing work.

Thanks in advance.

Ronny,
There is only one solution which is to store the files on the SQL box. If you want it otherwise you'll need to harass Microsoft to let the public know how to link to an Indexing Service on another machine.

My setup is a separate W2K3 IIS server with DNN 4.x, Medium Trust and a separate W2K3 Server with SQL Server 2005. Both machines are W2K3 Domain members and I am the Domain admin. I have DMX running on my DNN site with Indexing service running on the SQL Server, indexing DMX files located on my DNN web server. The DMX files are located on a separate drive from the DNN site, so they are not stored in the DNN folder structure.

The configuration to make this work is a little complex, but if a number of people are interested in how to do this, and you have full access to all servers, I will document how to make this work. You aren't likely to get this to work in a hosted environment.

Also, Peter has stated he is working on a new indexing method in the next major release, so that is also an upcoming solution.

Hello all,

I was asked to give the details of how to make this work, so I have created a blog entry on my site:

Hope this helps. Just leave a comment if something is not clear.
